Architect Bala North Wales | Rhys Llwyd Davies

Tyddyn Llafar

Tyddyn Llafar is a small, detached, and isolated former dwelling, included on included on the Snowdonia National Park Authority's list of 'buildings of traditional form and design'.  Rhys Llwyd Davies is architect for the reinstatement of the dwelling, for which planning consent has already been received.

The design approach is to maintain the character of the existing building as much as possible by minimising alterations to the existing structure and including a low rise extension, naturally terraced into the hillside. This maintains the appearance of a small stone built cottage and the isolated setting. In contrast to the original structure, the extension includes a contemporary living room with unique views across Llyn Tegid and the Arenig mountain range.

The firm was involved in the project from inception to completion in the spring or 2013. Tyddyn Llafar is a self-catered holiday cottage (http://www.balacottagebreaks.co.uk/propdetails.cfm?PropID=6703)
