rosedale

Rosedale is part of a distinct terraced townhouses in red brick.  The entire terrance is grade II* listed and retain many of their original detailing, massing and character.  This project involved the removal of a rear extension that was not sympathetic to the whole and the construction of a new single storey extension to provide a contemporary living accomodation on a tight site.  The extension adopts the form of the simple outhouses that run along a rear alley serving the whole terrace, tying the whole terrance together, and also forming a secluded private courtyard between the old and the new.  The project makes subtle use of brick patterns and forms to diffirentiate between the old and the new while the internal layout is contemporary with a high level of natural lighting.

This was a simple and cost effective design, incorporated fully into the historic fabric with carefull detailing that typifies the approach adopted by Rhys Llwyd Davies - Architect | Pensaer.  Construction work was completed in July 2013
