Dolgellau Free Library was built in 1911, designed by Edmund A Fermaud, of London, following a design competition. Many of the original architectural features had been lost since then, including a rare example of welsh language text being inscribed onto the facade. As part of the Dolgellau Townscape Heritage Initiative, Rhys Llwyd Davies - Architect | Pensaer was a leading part of a design team responsible for restoring the building's external appearance for Dolgellau Town Council. The work included public consultation in connection to the proposed use of colour on the facade.
Construction work was completed in March 2014.
